He has extensive experience in intelligence and security, contingency planning and building multi-agency organisations having worked in Whitehall and internationally. Phil's military background lends itself to the maritime security industry. Phil has also developed, led and managed teams throughout his career; he was Commanding Officer of the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (over 2000 personnel) and Royal Marines Tyne. He has been involved in strategy, leadership development, coaching and mentoring throughout his career and is a very strong advocate of strategic planning, social identity, talent management and continuous improvement.
Dave is an accomplished leader and manager with over 20 years leadership and management experience across distinctly different fields; the military, maritime and education sectors.
The diversity of his leadership and management experience include contracts manager in a steel construction company, project lead designer in a major offshore engineering company, Royal Marines staff officer, head of year in a secondary school and a military training officer. As a qualified coach and fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management Dave is a dynamic and energetic leader with excellent team building skills; he is absolutely committed to continuous professional development and training of both himself and his people.
A former Royal Marines Officer Paul Thompson brings a wealth of training experience and operational leadership. He has lead teams in the Desert, Arctic and is also a Jungle Warfare Instructor. An able trainer both front of house and as a training co-ordinator He commanded teams on operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan. He has delivered post-graduate instruction to Royal Naval Officers. Paul is a native of the North East and moved back after his commission to work with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service as a frontline Firefighter and trauma specialist.
Lee is an able and forthright instructor with wide experience both within The Royal Marines and in civilian life. He also represented Great Britain in Karate. A qualified coach, he specialises in leading challenges outdoors as a highly skilled and qualified mountain Leader. A strong quiet type he possesses infectious enthusiasm for all activities he undertakes.
A dedicated and highly motivated individual, John has strong management, communication and instructional skills and ability developed in the demanding environment of the Royal Marines. Accustomed to working in high-pressure environments on operations, he is a highly qualified mountain leader possessing extensive experience in climatic extremes. He is an exceptionally able survival and mountain skills instructor and his experience as a Warrant Officer has given him deep insight and knowledge in the field of Human Resources.
Stephen Ritson is a true professional renowned for his attention to detail. After completing three years service with the Royal Marines, he qualified as an Art and Design teacher in 2002 and became a professional fire fighter in 2005. Steve has travelled the world and served operationally with the Royal Marines in Iraq. An outstanding mountaineer he has led expeditions and managed trips in the Southern Alps, Mount Cook, Mount Aspiring and Mount Tapuae-o-uenku.
Cormac Hamilton was one of the youngest ever Royal Marine Officers to complete training. After training, he commanded in Cambodia, Northern Ireland and Norway. Cormac maintains an exceptional fitness level and has represented Great Britain as a member of the British Nordic Ski Team. After the Royal Marines he worked in construction and property management for UK and multi-national companies before setting up and running his own import business and re-engaging with the Royal Marines Reserve. Cormac’s wide array of experience brings a rich and diverse level to Sampson Hall.
Tom is one of the younger members of the team who has served operationally in Afghanistan on several occasions as a Royal Marine and as a team leader. An international sailor who has represented Scotland, he is also a qualified Physical Training Instructor. Exceptionally fit and full of energy Tom is a Newcastle lad who generally works with clients on both leadership and fitness.
Cath has worked in Social Services mainly in residential homes for young people and adults with learning disabilities. A natural and highly competent teacher, she has a degree in Environmental Education. She has worked abroad in the USA and Kuwait. and holds a PGCE qualification. Cath has focused her previous work within the special educational needs area and she is currently completing a diploma in Psychology with a view to undertaking a Doctorate in Educational Psychology. Cath brings rich educational and psychological experience which enables Sampson Hall to work in some challenging educational areas.
Andy Titerickx has over 27 years of military experience with the Royal Marines behind him, He is a proven leader and a logistics expert with recent operational experience in Afghanistan. Having worked his way up through the ranks, he has a very broad portfolio of management experience to draw upon, be that the shop floor level or the boardroom. He has achieved notable success from the development and introduction of MOD wide logistic management systems to managing critical supplies and logistic chains in the most testing of hostile environments. Andy is a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for personal development. He is a qualified and practising coach and mentor.
Rob is an energetic and capable leader with over 22 years leadership experience in the military and international humanitarian fields. Seventeen and a half years as an infantry officer in the British Army has given Rob extensive experience in leading, managing and training a wide range of teams in a number of places including Northern Ireland, the Middle East and West Africa.
As a humanitarian, Rob led an innovative and successful field programme in Liberia rehabilitating former child soldiers followed by 2 years in the same non-governmental organisation as the director of operations responsible for the strategic leadership of field programmes in Liberia, Western Sahara and Guinea Bissau.
