Teamwork

What is it?

“Your success as a leader will come not from what you do every day, but from the reflected glory of your team’s performance” – Jack Welch.

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results” – Andrew Carnegie

Brilliant teams, trump individuals and highly efficient teams deliver extraordinary results. Teamwork is all about gaining individual commitment to a group effort and when it is working correctly “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” – Aristotle.

Those that have been part of an amazing team will know just how good it feels and what results can be achieved. They will also know that inspired teams are formed through developing trust, effective communication, commitment to a cause or purpose, the ownership of issues and building an inclusive results focus.

Why do you need it?

Your organisation will function better when highly attuned teams are performing at their optimum level with each individual cognitive of their role and the value it brings to their team and their organisation.

How we do it

Sampson Armand designs packages to match the needs of the team and the chosen environment. From self-awareness through psychometrics to fun and challenge, participating teams will develop a better understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Working in new environments and circumstances teaches valuable lessons, creates a bond and shared memories that foster cohesion long after the event is over.

Sampson Armand create bespoke, tailor-made half day, one day and two day packages to assist in the development of your teams.

Every package is unique and bespoke to the need of the team, below are some examples of the packages we offer:

Half Day Packages:

1)Do your teams need to develop their Communication Skills?

An organisation approached Sampson Armand with engagement and morale issues as a department had been reduced in size and the team felt that their workload was not substantially reduced to reflect this. The issue was one of communication.

2) Do your teams need to develop their leaders?

Very rarely do organisations train their leaders and this can often cause issues as most leaders are selected on their professional skills rather than their leadership capability.

3) Do you want to optimise the way your team work?

Sometimes teams just don’t gel and teams can become dysfunctional as a result of internal tensions and poor communication.

One Day Packages:

1) Are you forming a new team?

Often teams are created by taking individuals who have not previously worked together for specific projects. These teams are required to hit the ground running in a highly demanding environment. They need to establish rules, build understanding and trust whilst learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

2) Are you looking to develop your leaders?

Leaders are often selected just on their skills and experience in the work place rather than their capabilities which are left to develop through trial and error! New leaders often struggle with the burden of responsibility over their former peers.

3) Are you looking for a team strategy?

Our one day team strategy course allows a business to understand where it is and where it needs to get to. It allows the business’s key staff to get together to develop a clear and unambiguous idea of where the business is. This achieved through the use of the SWOT and a PESTEL.

Two Day Packages:

1) Are you involved in a merger or acquisition?

Much time is often spent in due diligence during mergers and acquisitions and yet all too often it is the people involved that will create a successful integration.

2) Do you require a Strategic Audit and Plan?

If you do not know which direction your business is going – how are you going to get there?

3)Are you looking for a Leadership Development Plan?

True leadership development consists of a blend between theory and practice, it affords a real in depth look at leadership characteristics and functions before delivering a toolset of leadership skills that will enable a leader to become far more able to deal with a variety of situations.

4) Do you need to embrace Cultural Change?

Culture is the most difficult thing to change within a business.  It is basically the way that an organisation’s values are translated into its actions.  Culture is hard learned and therefore staunchly defended by those involved.  Change is easily fought off with the ‘not invented’ and therefore ‘not appropriate here’ argument.

How it helps

Teams will return to work, ready for new challenges and changes, invigorated, refreshed, motivated and excited. The common vision, shared ownership, trust and communication will have all been improved and the team ethic honed and strengthened.

We are all about developing teams to perform and succeed and our work always has relevance to the workplace and instant return on investment.

What do you do next?

Have a look around, you do you trust your fellow team members?

Can you talk openly with them and share issues? Do you feel anyone of them is not pulling their weight?

Is everyone committed to the team and its performance?

You may have some great individuals in your organisation but feel that a real sense of team is missing. Perhaps there is the foundation level of team work but you want to build on it to create a truly high performing team to take your business forward.

If you would like to discuss this further you should contact Sampson Armand and speak to one of our consultants who will be able to help you work out the best solution for you and your team.
