Developing your leaderhip brand and presence

Exeter

About this course

Every leader has their own individual style of leadership and being genuine and empathic are key attributes of great leaders. But to be seen as genuine and display empathy requires a leader to build a portfolio that their followers understand and trust just as a high street brand does. Every new leader has to initially have permission to lead from their followers before they can become an effective leader. If they don’t get that permission they become far more transactional and managerial in their ways. So how do you consciously build your leadership brand and develop your leadership presence?

Leadership presence consists of three key attributes Communication, Positivity and Gravitas. But more than that, to be accepted as a leader, a leader has to show they care. As John C Maxwell, American Author and Leadership Expert, says so eloquently “Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them

So how do you develop leadership presence and how much is your personal leadership brand involved in your personal leadership. In just the same way you connect with something as a brand or product so a leader must understand that they must connect with their followers. After all “Presence is the ability to connect authentically with the thoughts and feelings of others” Halpern and Lubar, authors of Leadership Presence.
